SB 54 -- VEHICLE EMISSIONS
SPONSOR: Griesheimer (Nieves)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 18 to 1.
This bill allows BAR-97 vehicle emissions tests for residents in
Franklin County to be conducted on a biennial basis. The maximum
testing fee is increased from $10.50 to $24.
FISCAL NOTE: Net Estimated Loss to Air Pollution Fund of $15,167
in FY 2004, $16,500 in FY 2005, and $16,500 in FY 2006.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will help simplify
licensing and inspection procedures and eliminate confusion about
the test.
Testifying for the bill was Senator Griesheimer.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
